As with almost every major final, the race into the opening turn was going to have a huge bearing on the outcome. Unlike his semi-final success, Clonbrien Treaty didn’t make a fastest of starts and had to demonstrate his brilliant acceleration, holding his rails pitch he burst his way through the opening turn.

Straightening up into the far side, Clonbrien Treaty was moving nicely and built up a five length advantage. Setting a relentless gallop out front he maintained his advantage and came home in splendid isolation to record a famous success for owners Jim and Muireann Murphy.

It was the team’s second success in as many years, following up Swords Rex victory last year. There’s no doubt, Treaty has the make up to expand his CV in the next 12 months the same way that Rex did!

The team had a great night on the undercard too with two more impressive victories. Bockos Crystal continues to bang the drum for the claim of one of the top ladies in training at the moment as she broke smartly and went on to victory in a very quick 28.19. Romeo Hanzo had a great buckle on his way to victory, neck and neck throughout he eventually proved too strong, crossing the line three quarters of a length to the good, in 28.29!
