The weekend started brightly with Riverside Ciara winning her first ever race at Clonmel by a decent 6 length margin in 29.21. Forgotten Town broke well but found trouble in his race, whilst Riverside Swift missed the break slightly and found trouble in his contest.
Riverside Pat and Hooverville were both impressive winners of their second round heats of the Lee Strand on Friday evening at Tralee. Unfortunately, our other kennel representative, Barnhill Turbo didn’t break well and encountered trouble at the second turn which cost him dearly.
Also on Friday we were at Limerick where we had 2 runners in the Holmes O’Malley Sexton Solicitors Oaks first round. Brenval Star found trouble in her race and was eliminated but Coolavanny Pandy showed good trapping and early pace to lead early and go on to a one and half length success in the fastest time of the four heats, 28.94.
Returning to Limerick on Saturday evening, Runaway Rover recorded a fine success when winning a strong A2 contest by four lengths in a very fast 28.44. Totos Tank ran a good race in defeat when finishing 2nd, just being outstayed on the run in to go down by a length. Sidarian Blitz found a bit of trouble at the second bend in the Con & Anne Kirby Memorial Invitation Race whilst Vans Viking race was a similar story after not quite being able to clear trap 3 into the opening turn. However, take nothing away from the winner, Boylesports Hero who ran a foot perfect race.
On that note, we’d like to take a moment to congratulate all connected with Boylesports Hero who ran a great race on the evening and is a well-deserved winner of a fantastic competition.
Over at Shelbourne, we unfortunately had a couple of withdrawals with Newinn Expert and Sharp Bolt having to be left at home but still had three runners in the Gain 600. Sidarian Lisa was unfortunately eliminated when finishing 4th in her heat. Hawaii Kinsale overcame early crowding to get up for second in his heat and progress to next week’s semi-final where he will join Garryvoe Jet who ran a game race when he also finished second in his heat.
