The team hit a nice crop of winners over the weekend as we had success at Tralee, Shelbourne, Limerick and Clonmel.
There was a double at Tralee whilst contesting the GMHD Insurances Juvenile Second Round where Newinn Blake and Slippy Cian were impressive winners. The full report and videos can be seen on this blog post.
There was a hat-trick at Shelbourne as they hosted the opening round of Ladbrokes Easter Cup. We had Drive On Tipp claim a win in the first heat with a great performance from this ultra professional dog. He showed all his experience to ride a bumpy first turn before running on well to take the win. We had three other qualifiers alongside this win with Macaroon Cruz running on for third in his heat, whilst Droopys Cabaye grabbed second behind the 2017 Derby winner, Good News. Clonbrien Hero making his first return to competitive action since his Night Of Stars success could only manage third but will improve for the run no doubt. On the undercard we saw Droopys Pogba run a good race to claim the Open 350 contest before Nitro Notorious landed an A1/A2 contest with battling performance, getting up on the run in to claim his success.
We only had a couple runners at Limerick, and both drawn in together, so a 1-2 is the best possible result we could ask for. Fantasy Joey led home Macaroon Towser in the Irish Cup Wkd @ Limerick A1 550 Semi-Final. It was a good battle that saw Towser lead slightly into the opening turn but Joey was hot on his heels and had the run up the rails which allowed him a dream run out the turn. Once in front there was no looking back he went on to score by a length and a half. Both now move into next week’s Final.
Finally to Clonmel on Sunday and we hit another hat-trick of winners which included two nice Stake winners. Hovex Ned finally got a clear run and made it pay. Producing a strong finish he got up under the post to grab the Friends Of Clonmel Track A4 525 Stake Final. Rural Aloha completed a nice Semi and Final double as she ran out an impressive victor of the Friends Of Clonmel Track A3 525 Stake Final. Leading early she was comfortable as she ran away to a five length victory in a good time of 28.67. The hat trick was completed in the last race by Kilmessan Gold as his display of early pace afforded him a total solo out in front of the field. He clocked a respectable 28.86.
