We had plenty of runners scattered about this weekend, which saw us take in trips to Tralee, Limerick and Cork.
We were luckless at Tralee in the GMHD Juvenile Semi Finals on Friday, where Clonbrien Hero and Nitro Notorious hampered each other’s chances of a qualifying spot. Coming together on the run up, the early leaders extended there lead and it was too much for our two runners to claw back as they finished 4th and 5th respectively.
Heading to Curaheen Park on Saturday we again came up fruitless but did have a couple of runners up. Lughill Robbie looked like he would take the honours in the Con & Annie Kirby Trial Stake, leading from the second bend, he was collared by Farloe Falcon on the run in. Clona Kid had to settle for 2nd in the Open 525 behind Ballymac Sarahjo. Riverside Oscar and Slippery Thelma both finished 3rd in their races on the night.
We had a better night at Limerick where we sent out two winners. Rackethall Jess was an impressive winner of the Irish Cup A2 550. Missing the break slightly, she plotted a safe passage round the opening turn before powering along the far side. Leading into the 3rd bend she pulled away for a comprehensive 5 length victory. The Irish Cup A1 525 was claimed by Hovex Mick, also very impressive and running out a 5 length winner. Showing great early pace he led round the opening turns and pulled further away along the back, staying on well and coming home in a fast 28.45, the fastest time of the night.
