It was a productive weekend for the kennels as we secured a Semi Final place in the Irish Independant Laurels courtesy of Coran Sky as well as gaining free entry to the William Hill English Derby with Clares Wonder winning the trial stake at Shelbourne.

Coran Sky was made to work hard for his victory on Saturday at Cork but battled and held on by a short head. Leading up to the bend, his usual middle to wide course allowed the one dog to sneak up his inside approaching the third turn. Rallying hard he battled all the way to the line and took the win by the shortest of margins to move into next week’s Semi Finals.

At Shelbourne we clocked up another 4 winners on another good quality night’s racing. Skywalker Pearl (video below) opened her account for the kennel in emphatic fashion when taking Heat 4 of the Healthcare and Transport Services Puppy Oaks. Recording a blistering 1.91 sectional she was never under pressure as she raced to a four and half length victory. She joins 3 other kennel mates who also progressed in earlier rounds. Rural Maui and Tolpuddle Mist finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the opening Heat. Ballydoyle Honey progressed from Heat 2 when she finished 2nd to the opening rounds quickest time.

Hovex Prince made it a hat trick of victories in a row when taking the Open 525 in scintillating fashion. Pacing up well he had command of the rail round the opening turn and from here on he pulled away and never looked back. Crossing the line over six lengths to the good he stopped the clock in a phenomenal 28.27! Clares Wonder quickly followed this up when taking the next race, another impressive run. Flying from traps he won by a good three and a half lengths against top class opposition. not only did he collected a substantial winning cheque he also gained free entry to the William Hill English Derby as part of his prize.

The night was rounded off with Gaytime Hawk crossing the line first in the Dandelion Bar and Nightclub Open 550. Running a good bend, he forced his way through at the opening turn. Leading out the second turn he ran a game race to win by over a length in a solid 29.92.
