It’s another big weekend of top quality racing which will see us have runners at Shelbourne, Wimbledon and Clonmel over the next few days.

At Shelbourne the feature race of the night is The Healthcare & Transport Services Puppy Oaks Final where we are represented by 3 runners. A brilliant achievement in itself but we’re not there to make up the numbers and have a very strong hand going to traps. Ballydoyle Honey set the track alight in the 2nd Round when recording her amazing 27.86 run but she will need to be on her toes with Skywalker Pearl on her inside. Pearl has been in brilliant form in recent weeks, recording 28.22 herself last week with a flying sectional. Tolpuddle Mist, although behind on times, is a strong running bitch who is improving with every run. Any trouble up front will see her come into contention round the final turns as she attempts to turn the screw on the run in.

Also on the Shelbourne card we have plenty of action to keep us busy. Riverside Bolt was mighty impressive last time out when winning by eight lengths but is up in class and will need to reproduce that run. No doubt he’s capable though. Warrior Gwen has had a short break and looks to come back refreshed in an A1 contest where she has a nice make up in Trap 1. Hovex Princess then lines up in a tough A1 contest. A winner last time out by seven lengths she was brave at the opening turn before powering away and will need to repeat this.

The Walk Hill Designs Cleator Moor Open 525 sees Rockburst Mills line up in strong affair. She will continue to improve in the coming weeks and will have come on for the run last week at Cork. Suncroft Ladies Football Team Open 575 is the final race of the night and sees the return of Rockburst Vienna, having been away from the track for a couple months she will be another who will continue to improve in the coming weeks.

Our campaign towards the English Derby continues at Wimbledon on Saturday where we send three runners. Millbank Stevie won last time there and is improving with every look and is in good form. Riverside Pat is yet to get a clear run but the make up this week could see him get a run to the bend. It’s not an easy race by any means and has last year’s Derby Champion and the Track Record holder in there! Clares Wonder completes the team and will be having his first race round Wimbledon. A great run last time out at Shelbourne, and a recent solid trial here, shows he’s in fine fettle going in to a tough race.

We end the weekend with the opening round of the The B.I.F. National Produce Stakes at Clonmel where we have a strong team heading down this year. Rural Hawaii contests Heat 4. Fresh from a short break after his excursions during the Con & Annie Kirby at Limerick he’ll be in good health. Amazing Dude was a brilliant winner in a recent Shelbourne race, recording 28.27, and on times looks to have a good shout to qualify.

Hovex Prince has his box in Heat 6 where he will love the rails draw and, similar to Dude, a safe passage should see him qualify for the next round. Heat 7 will see Calzaghe Clampett line up, he’ll be doing his best running from half way and looking to run any early leaders down. Finally, Charming King lines up in Heat 9 in fine form of the back of 2 recent wins at Shelbourne. This heat appears, on paper, to be a competitive contest and is wide open.
