Lughill Robbie retained the the 2017 Gain Dog Nutrition Select Stakes 525 for the team, and owner Larry O’Rourke, at Waterford last night.

Producing a similar display to Riverside Oscar 12 months ago, brute early pace and huge back straight speed, he ran out a hugely impressive winner against a top class field. Running from trap 6 he broke level with the field but accelerated unopposed on the outside, powering along the far side he opened up a strong advantage before turning for home and crossing the line three lengths in front. Black Farren, our other runner, had found trouble at the opening turn but ran on for a respectable 4th place.

It was a good night for the team, alongside the feature race victory, we scored another three winners on the card. We got off to the perfect start when Newinn Trump took the opening race of the night. Another performance of great early pace from him which took him clear and on his way to recording his fourth straight victory, he stopped the clock in 28.91. It’s been a great start for the youngster, winning four out of his five races and finishing 2nd in the other.

Fantasy Joey, returning from layoff, was straight into winning ways as he produced another early pace performance and going on to win comfortably by four and a half lengths in 28.84.

The final race on the night went to Droopys Pogba, he produced a good performance on his debut for the team. Powering to the opening turn he looked effortless as he powered to a four and a half length victory in 28.70.

As well as having the team at Waterford we were back at Shelbourne. Droopys Cabaye was our only winner of the night there but was a good winner of a strong Ski St-Johann in Tirol Open 550. Leading early he dictated the race from the off and went on to win in 30.14 by three lengths.

Don’t forget, videos of the other winners on the evening can be found on our Facebook and Twitter pages!
