Another busy weekend for us with runners both sides of the water!
Starting at Cork where we have 2 runners in the Irish Independant Laurels 2nd Round. Coran Sky has a more familiar wider trap draw and will be looking to take full advantage of this in the opening Heat. Gaytime Hawk, who recorded fasted time of the opening round, will be looking to follow up when lining up in Heat 4. Both will be hoping to gain smart exits to be in contention early and avoid any trouble to ensure they finish in the top 3.
At Shelbourne we have another busy card with 7 runners. Voodoo Rebel left it late last week when leading off the final turn but can go close again. Olivias Hope has been running well enough in defeat and has a better Trap 1 draw this week which could see him lead into the opening turn. Nice Chance was an impressive winner last week when stopping the clock in 28.81 and is perfectly housed to follow this up, however he’s up in grade so it’s no easy feat ahead of him in a good A1 contest. The Dandelion Bar & Nightclub Open 550 Final sees Calzaghe Clampet looking to return to winning ways, definitely has a chance but it’s another tough race. Lithunian Pippy lines up in Race 9, this time an Open 525. She’s got the ability to trouble the judges in with some useful sorts tomorrow. Clares Wonder returns to competitve action in the Dandelion Bar & Nightclub Open 525. This really is a hot race but the trial last week would of blown away the cobwebs. Onto the Ted Hegarty Bookmaker A1 Tri Distance Semi-Finals where Warrior Gwen goes in the opening semi. Not without chance but in with some quality dogs as you’d expect. Top 3 finish is required to progress to next week’s final.
Over in England, we head to Wimbledon ahead of our forthcoming English Derby challenge where we have 3 runners in the William Hill Greyhound Derby Trial Stakes. Millbank Stevie recorded a solid 28.88 in a recent trial there and can improve upon that. He has opportunity to lead on the inside in his race and if getting round in front will go close. Riverside Pat is in a tough race with a couple of big race winners but if transferring his Shelbourne form will be a big runner. Finally, Sidarian Blaze lines up in the final trial stake. Having recorded a very good 28.33 trial he’s in fine form to put in a big run against some good dogs again.
Good luck to all runners over the weekend!
