Sidarian Rythym took his heat in style. It was a pretty level start in the five runner contest from which De Real McCoy was an absentee due to a cut pad. Quickly Sidarian Rhythm and Paradise Silva showed ahead and they went neck and neck to the bend ahead of Kippers Usain.
Sidarian showed just ahead into the bend where Kippers moved wide and Kilgraney Tomson railed tightly to get up the inside of Paradise Silva to take second spot. The O’Connor/ Sidarian Syndicate owned Sidarian Rhythm then opened a gap of two and a half lengths over Kilgraney with Paradise Silve another few lengths back in third. Sidarian ran on strongly and crossed the line with three lengths in hand in 28.38. Kilgraney held second place by three parts of a length from a strong staying Paradise Silva.
In the second heat Rockburst Pearl came away racing from the outside box and she led up from Hot Pursuit and Isabels Boy.
Isabels rode a bump to go past Hot Pursuit between bends but Rockburst had now gone clear and she was all of eight lengths in front at halfway. Meanwhile, the Jerry Melia trained Greenwell Hulk (Westmead Hawk/ Greenwell Puma) was in third place and this powerful finisher sailed past Isabels Boy approaching the third bend. John Shannon’s dog quickly closed the gap on the flattering leader and Greenwell flew past on the run-in to win by a length and a half from Rockburst in 28.61. Skywalker Legend also finished fast to claim third spot a further length and a half adrift.
Earlier in the evening, the opening heat saw Cabra Buck go off favourite but there was very healthy respect for Glenamore Dancer also and the pair of them proceeded to dominate the contest.
The break was level but the Tom O’Neill trained Glenanore Dancer (Kinloch Brae/ Marbeck Star) was the marginal leader from Sidaz Harris and Cabra Buck with the entire field very closely grouped.
Glenanore cleared the corner and led into the back by less than a length from Cabra Buck with Clipper Carlton and Skywalker Jet now disputing third place. It was ding dong down the back and Glenanore hit the third bend still with an advantage of less than a length. From here, though, Glenanore had the superior strength and he ran on bravely to win by three lengths from Cabra Buck in 28.51. It was then two and a half lengths to Clipper Carlton in third.[one_half last=”no”]FIRST SEMI-FINAL
