Lenson Bocko, Murts Boher and Ballydoyle Valor all secured places in next week’s Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby Semi Finals at Shelbourne on Saturday evening.

Bocko and Boher produced near identical runs to that of their successes in the previous round as they both landed victory in their respective Quarter Final contests. In the opening contested, Lenson Bocko broke smartly and showed great early pace to build up an unassailable lead by half way. Despite the chasing pack trying their upmost, it was in vain as Bocko cruised to a round fastest 29.27 for the delighted owners Lochead-Ponder and Whelan Syndicate. We completed a nice double of Quarter Final victories as Murts Boher repeated his run of 7 days earlier, showing great back straight pace he grabbed the lead and pulled away to win by three quarters of a length in 29.61. It may of taken a while to get his first Shelbourne Park win under his belt, but two in two weeks, at this high level, is showing what this dog really is capable of for owner Larry O’Rourke. Ballydoyle Valor claimed his Semi Final spot with a brilliant second place finish to Magical Bale in his Quarter Final contest. Turning along the back he was always in contention and showed great pace and determination to finsh three quarters of a length behind in 29.40.
