The kennel enjoyed one of our finest moments in greyhound racing on Saturday evening as we secured THREE finalists in the biggest race in the sport, the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby.

The first Semi Final saw Sonic take the honours with another brilliant display. For such a young dog he has improved and improved as the competition has gone on and now finds himself at the head of the betting markets for the outright glory. A son of our very own Knockglass Billy, he showed brilliant early pace to get to the front of the field. Taking charge he looked a dog beyond his years as he stretched out a top class field with ease. Turning for home he crossed the line with three lengths to spare in a brilliant 29.40.

With two in the second Semi Final, all we were hoping for is qualification for both and we were not disappointed. Rural Hawaii, who has been one of the best dogs in training for the last 18 months, led up on the outside and made the bend in front of Holycross Leah and Sidarian Pearl. This is the way it stayed as all 3 held their positions throughout the contest, despite Hawaii doing his usual heart in mouth moment, swinging wide round the final turn! Straightening for home, he galloped home hard and crossed the line two and half lengths in front, stopping the clock in 29.58. With Pearl back in third spot, it capped a wonderful night for the team to get all 3 of our Semi Finalists through to the Final.
