The nominations for the Irish Greyhound Awards have been announced and we’re very pleased to be able to say Sidarian Lisa has been nominated for stayer of the year!

Lisa competed at the very top level of racing throughout the year, winning 16 times on 5 different tracks. She started the year off in fine style when winning twice at Shelbourne over 575. She was then stepped up to 6 bends where she took The Greyhound & Pet World Open 790 Stake Final at Clonmel in her first real test over the distance.

During May she won 3 on the bounce, starting at Shelbourne before moving onto Cork where she won 2 rounds of the Barrys Tea 750. She went on to make the Final of The 2014 Barry’s Tea Open 750 Final in June at Cork.
The opening round of the Gain Feeds Corn Cuchulainn 750 saw her record a calculated 41.48 which was 3 spots off the track record which has stood since 2005! She then went on to reach the final of the Gain Feeds Corn Cuchulainn 750 where she finished 3rd.

September and October saw her run into some fine form, the highlight being victory in the Home of Sportsbook Cashbacks Open, on the biggest stage of all, Irish Derby Final Night. The end of October and she took her place in another final, this time the Seamus Farrell Memorial 750 at Shelbourne where she went on to finish runner-up.

The year closed off as it started, taking a high quality stake at Clonmel. Going unbeaten through John Kennedy Motors/TSC Open 790 Stake Final and winning the final by over 11 lengths.

We’ll be hoping she can follow up the success of last year when we were honoured to have had Sidarian Rhythm named Newcomer of the Year and Knockglass Billy named Sprint of the Year, not forgetting Razldazl Pearl nominated for Bitch Of The Year!

The Awards Ceremony will be staged in conjunction with the semi-finals of the Irish Independent Irish Laurels at Curraheen Park on Saturday, May 2nd.
