We scored a brilliant six timer at Shelbourne on Saturday evening, including the big one when Clares Rocket claimed the Doire Construction Champion Stakes. You can read about Clares Rocket here.

Vancouver Colin started the night rolling when he ran out a three length winner of the [email protected] A1 525. Breaking well, he showed good pace to make the first turn in front. From here he pulled away and stayed on well to cross the line in 28.54. Mullaca Psycho then produced a similar performance as she paced up well and led round the open turns. Running along the far side she increased her lead slightly before coming home a length in front to take the Doire Construction Open 550, recording a career best 29.87 for the 550.

Riverside Oscar is in brilliant form at present and made it a five wins on the bounce as he held off kennel mate, Ballydoyle Honey, in the www.doireconstruction.com Open 525. Leading into the opening turn he powered along the far side to hold the field at bay in to the 3rd bend. Coming off the last he was under pressure from the fast finished Honey but held on by a short head to claim victory.

Rural Hawaii, fresh from his BoyleSports.com Irish Greyhound Derby Trial Stake victory at Curraheen Park last week, ran out half a length winner in the Doire Construction Open 550. Steering his usual wide course round the first turns, he led out the second and established a useful two length lead down the back straight. Again, running wide off the last he relinquished the lead before battling back gamely to grab the win by half a length in 29.78.

Rural Hawaii

The night was rounded off with Skywalker Rory running out an impressive three and half length winner in the final race of the evening, another Doire Construction Open 550. Flying from the traps, he led up early and was not stopping as he came home strongly in a fast 29.53.

With the Boylesports Irish Derby just round the corner, the dogs are in fine form at the right time and we’re hopeful of another big Derby campaign where we made the Final with Gaytime Hawk in 2015.
