There was plenty of top quality action for the team to take in on Saturday as we sent runners to Shelbourne and Curraheen Park.

We didn’t have to wait long for our first winner at Shelbourne as our first runner of the evening, Ballyhale Blaze, secured his first victory since last September! Breaking well but then finding himself crowded on the run up he battled hard to stay in contention. Running on strong he came through to take victory by a length in 28.86.

We had to wait until the Race 10 for our next winner where Macaroon Towser took advantage of his wide pitch to lead round the opening turns before galloping on to a comfortable success in the www.barkingbuzz.ie Open 550. Winning by four and a half lengths he stopped the clock in a solid 29.85.

At Curraheen Park we were represented in both of the Connollys Red Mills Unraced Semi-Finals. Colarhouse Boss landed the opening Semi Final as he produced a good performance to take the victory. Tracking the early leader he swooped round the outside at the final turns, pulling away to win by two and a half lengths in 28.56. Newinn Lester saw his unbeaten record come to an end when he was reeled in on the run in, finishing in 2nd spot he progresses to next week’s Final alongside Colarhouse Boss.

The feature race of the evening was the 2018 Greyhound & Petworld A1 Stake Final where Ballycowen Jake looked to overcome a less than favourable draw in Trap 5. Missing the break he was unable to impose himself on the contest and finished fourth in a good quality race.

The final race of the evening saw the ultra professional, Drive On Tipp land the spoils with a superb performance. Leading early on the run up he was in total control of the contest as he ran on to a five and a half length victory in 29.53. He’ll be another one of the team considered for the Boyelsports Irish Derby entry in the coming days, ahead of Tuesday’s draw.
