Last Saturday saw the racing return of Vans Viking when participating in the Bar One Sprint Cup at Dundalk. Although drawn in an unfavorable trap 6 he didn’t let this bother him, battling to the front of the field into the first turn he went on to a 8 and 3/4 length victory in a solid 21.16. He has been drawn in his preferred rail pitch in the next round where, with luck, he’ll come on for his recent outing.

Having to battle hard she got her head in front when it mattered most and took the win. Riverside Billy went down by a couple lengths in a strong A2 before Runaway Rover continued his good run of form when scoring the the Dandelion Bar & Nightclub 525 Open by 3 lengths. Showing strong back straight pace he took up the running and never relented that lead. General Wolf returned the kennels recently and he put in a good show when finishing second in the Hamilton Architects Champion Plate Semi-Final, where he will no move into next week’s final.

On Friday, the ever consistent Sidarian Lisa contested the Gain Feeds Corn Cuchulainn 750 Final at Harolds Cross. She ran a game race despite encountering trouble and was placed third, only beaten 2.5 lengths. She has been a real credit for all connected since stepping up in distance at the turn of the year.

Also on Friday, over at Galway we had 3 representatives in the ECC Timber Open Bitch 550 second round. Ardnacrusha Lady opened the heats when leading at the opening turn to go on and score by 3 1/4 lengths in a good 29.86. Coolavanny Pandy was next up in heat 2 but could only manage 2nd on the evening which sees her progress. Although little consolation, the winner of the heat was out of our very own Broadacres Turbo who is at stud with is. Finally, Brenval Star was out of luck when a sluggish start her bow out of the competition. In next week’s Semi Finals both Pandy and Lady are drawn in together so we’re just hoping for a clear run round where they can both give their all.
