Sidarian Pearl heads to Shelbourne tonight looking to emulate Ballydoyle Honey’s success of last year in becoming one of a handful of bitches to complete the Puppy Oaks and Oaks double in the same year.
A brilliant run in last week’s Semi Finals, where she led from trap to line, saw her earn her place tonight on merit. It hasn’t been all plain sailing in the competition however; she was a fourth place finisher in the opening round before finding her true form again in the second round, winning comfortably in 28.23. In the Quarter Finals she ran a brilliant race but came up against the sensational kennel-mate, Ballydoyle Honey who crossed the line 2 lengths in front of her. She’s finding her form at the right time and a repeat of the Semi Final performance will stand her in good stead and she will be a huge player on the night.
