Rockburst Pearl’s entry may surprise a few but she’s back to defend the bitches’ Night Of Stars title which she won so brilliantly last year. She’s been in fine form at home and her recent trial of 28.55 shows she’s back to near best. Her game is all about getting out in front early and if she can do that on Saturday we’ll be hoping she can hold off the challenges that may come her way.
Sidarian Lisa has been one of the most consistent greyhounds in training this year, reaching numerous finals, and goes into Saturday on the back of a brilliant unbeaten run through the John Kennedy Motors/TSC Open 790 Stake at Clonmel. A very hot 750y race, arguably the best of the year, as you’d expect for the occasion.
Vans Viking goes in the Open 525 which is full of class. In with dual Derby finalist and Puppy Derby Winners he’ll need to have his best trapping shoes on to be out and gone to overcome a very much less than ideal trap draw. We’ve seen him do it at Cork when on his way to recording the fastest time of the year, and a length off the clock, so there’s no reason he can’t do it again.
The Open 550 is worthy of being Derby Final anywhere in the world, the race is full of major race winners and oozes class throughout. Sidarian Blaze has a good trap draw on the fence but still needs to break smartly to be competitive, there is simply no room for error in a field this good.
Finally, General Wolf lines up in another top class field for the 600y. He’s been in fine form at Limerick and can count himself a little unlucky not making the recent Leger Final when exiting at the semi-final stages. Another race full of Derby quality dogs there’ll be no room for error at trap rise.
It’s a great privilege and honour for us to be involved in the evening and we hope the owners enjoy a fantastic evening of racing.
