We has a strong hand in the Shelbourne Champion 550 Final where we had four of the six Finalists lining up to contest €7,500 prize on offer.

The team recorded a memorable first and second as Lenson Blinder produced a strong finish to beat kennel companion Clona Blaze by half a length in 29.75.

Slippy Cian was looking to justify the bookies favourites tag but he didn’t get his usual fast start and, instead, it was his litter brother Blinder who he led up. Clona Blaze and Beaming Paradise went up strongly but Paradise was crowded at the bend which allowed Clona Blaze to take up the running from Blinder around the opening bends.

Clona Blaze opened a two and a half length lead along the far side with Blinder with Burgess Paddy in pursuit. Rounding the final turns, Lenson Blinder started to close and on the run in produced a huge finish which saw him hit the line half a length in front of Clona Blaze.

The son of Crash and Global Liberty, owned by Len and Pat Ponder, has shown he likes Shelboune Park and with the Irish Derby starting in the next few weeks he’s running into form at the right time.
