Saturday saw us represented with plenty of runners in the ECC Timber Champion 550 Stake at Shelbourne. In the opening heat Elevenerife ran a good race in defeat when finishing 2nd and safely progressing to the next round. Following last weeks impressive victory, Coran Sky was looking to follow this up with another big run. Despite not taking victory he ran a solid race and also progresses to the next round. Quick Blaze was unfortunately involved in trouble round the closing turns but still qualified for the next round before Garryvoe Jet experienced a similar rough ride when finding trouble at the opening turn.
Elsewhere on the card, Sidarian Blitz, had qualified for the ECC Timber Products 525 Final when finishing a game second in the semi final. Barnhill Turbo was baulked at the first bend in the Open 550 which hampered his chances.
Friday at Harolds Cross saw the opening rounds of the Gain Feeds Corn Cuchulainn 750. Rockburst Vienna was in a particularly hard heat but showed she’ll win plenty over the extended trip. She ran a brave race against the countries top stayers going down by a couple of lengths in 4th place. The ever consistent Sidarian Lisa took victory in the last heat when holding on to score by a short head, showing good early pace and then great determination when under pressure on the run in.
