After a couple weekends of slight setbacks with runners in big finals we’re hoping we can return to winning ways with Vans Viking in the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Stake Final at Limerick on Saturday evening. The draw hasn’t been overly kind but if he traps as well as he did in the semi final he could steal a march on his rivals into the opening turn and then it will be an interesting race to see if they can get to him.
Also at Limerick on Saturday are Runaway Rover in an A2, Totos Tank in an A1 and Sidarian Blitz in the Con & Annie Kirby Memorial Invitational.
Saturday also sees us at Shelbourne where we are represented with 5 runners. Newinn Expert goes in the second round of the Oaks. Sharp Bolt is in an A1. Sidarian Lisa is in the Gain Feeds 600 competition as are Hawaii Kinsale and recent Cesarewitch Finalist Garryvoe Jet.
Before all our runners at the weekend we’re kept busy by trips to Clonmel, Limerick and Tralee.
We have a busy evening at Clonmel on Thursday with 3 runners. Riverside Ciara will look to open her account at the second time of asking in a novice race. Forgotten Town is out in an A5 contest before Riverside Swift goes in a hot S2 race.
Hooverville will look to follow up his impressive showing in the Tralee Lee Strand 550 opening round where he scored a pleasing three and half length victory over his rivals. His time was only bettered by kennel mate Barnhill Turbo on the evening who battled hard to score by the shortest of margins.
We’ll be at Limerick on Friday with Brenval Star, last years Christmas Oaks finalist at Shelbourne, who goes in the Holmes O’Malley Sexton Solicitors Oaks first round.
We’re relieved to be able to report that Holborn Junior, who fell whilst contesting the lead of the Treaty Cup Final at Limerick suffered no more than a couple of cuts and bruises in what looked a very nasty tumble.
