Unfortunately we have some bad news to report following the weekend’s action with regards to injuries.
Dual Irish Derby Finalist and Night Of Stars Winner, Sonic, strained a gracilas whilst contesting the opening round of the Gain Greyhound Nutriton Open 600 at Shelbourne on Saturday. He has returned home with owner Marian Moloney for some rest and recuperation and his injury will be assessed in the coming weeks and months before making a final decision as to whether he will race again. Sonic is a huge character around the kennels and will be hugely missed by all of us.
Clares Rocket came off sore after his trial at Towcester and will now be retired. He has been a fantastic dog for the Full House Syndicate. We had hoped, after his successful handslips in recent weeks, he would hold up to the rigours of competitive racing but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. He has been an amazing dog to train and his CV is one of the best in racing, he claimed Group 1 success with the Champion Stakes and Produce Stakes, made the English Derby Final, equaled the Towcester Track Record in 2016 and currently holds the Clonmel Track Record. He was an exceptional race dog.
In more positive news, the Ballydoyle Honey pups had their first handslips last week and impressed everyone with how well they went first time. Couldn’t ask any more from them.
