The first pups from the brilliant Ballydoyle Honey made their debuts at Clonmel on Friday evening and we couldn’t be more pleased with their runs.
First to debut was Herecomesdahoney, owned by Marjorie McDonald and Mark Whittaker, who had a less than ideal draw to deal with for her first run when drawn in Trap 5. Encountering trouble on the run up she managed to find her way to the rails out the second turn. Showing glimpses of her mothers strong running style she kept on well to finish 3rd, a neck off 2nd spot. She never gave up and gave everything which is all we can ask of a pup at this early stage.
Next up was Riverside Honey for Nicky (Holland). Showing nice pace to the bend, and importantly having a clear run, she was level with the early leader out the second bend. Powering down the back straight she took up the running heading into the bend. There was no looking back and she kept on for a two length victory in 29.21.
A great start for both pups, who showed all the determination their mother did during her career, and who will continue to improve with racing experience. Keep an eye out for more runners in the coming weeks!
