We kicked off the New Year in good style with three winners at Shelbourne, including The Gain Christmas Oaks, and the one winner at Clonmel in the Red Mills & T.S.C. Open Unraced Stake opening round.

Our first runner, and winner, of the year was Cabra Ash who was an impressive winner of an A1 575 contest. Leading round the opening turn she stayed on well to record a very good 31.01 for the distance; a run that is only around two lengths off the clock! Diegos Ruby was the next winner when she was a worthy winner of the Gain Record Breaker Open 550. Showing great early pace to lead at the opening turn she stretched her lead and was always comfortable in victory. She also recorded a good time, 29.67 for the trip.

The final winner on the night at Shelbourne was Ballydoyle Honey, as she stormed to success in the Gain Feeds Christmas Oaks Final. You can read more about her brilliant victory here.

On to Clonmel on Sunday where Colarhouse Jim was our only winner on the night, and only representative to qualify for the second round. He overcame slight bunching on the run uup to power to the front in to the opening turn. A bit of trouble in behind meant he was in full control and crossed the line some ten lengths to the good to progress to next week’s draw, below.
