The team secured an incredible five qualifiers for next week’s Boylesports Irish Derby following some more electric displays at Shelbourne this evening.

Our first runners took their place in the second Quarter Final and it was Slippy Cian who led home Totos Park in a fantastic race. Totos Park broke well and led round the opening turns but Slippy Cian had tracked the early leader well. Edging ever closer along the far side, Cian steered a wide course round the third turn  taking up the running and pulling away slightly from the gallant Totos who never gave in. Crossing the line a length and a half in front he stopped the clock in a superb 29.32, the fastest the Derby has seen this year.

The third Quarter Final saw us secure two Semi Finalist from our three runners with Clonbrien Hero and Drive On Tipp finishing second and third respectively. Lenson Blinder was eliminated here. Hero had turned second behind the eventual winner Newhall Missile, and stayed there, whilst Drive On Tipp used all of his experience and track craft to take the third qualifying spot.

The final Quarter Final saw Clona Blaze extend his unbeaten run in the competition as he produced another great performance. Showing his customary early pace he led from trap rise, only coming under pressure round the final turns. Turning for home he was in command again where he continued to defy Crossfield Will before going on to cross the line for victory in 29.46 by a length and a half.

The Semi Final draw was completed after racing and guarantees to throw up some fascinating buckles between the best 12 dogs left in the competition.
