We closed the year out in great style as the the team landed a brilliant hat-trick at Curraheen Park, including Ballyhimikin Jet coming out on top in the feature race of the evening.

Owned locally by Cork regulars, Billy and John Dunne, Ballyhimikin Jet justified favouritism to claim the John Slyne Memorial Open 575 Final. Breaking best, Witches Ethiopia led early and opened up a length lead down the back straight. Ballyhimikin Jet drew alongside at the third bend and quickly gained the upper hand. Edging in front, Jet galloped home strongly to the line where he crossed a length and a half in front in 31.00. Kennel mate Black Parachute kept on strongly to take third.

Earlier in the card, Totos Park made the most a good draw for owners Denis Fogarty and Tony McCormack, taking victory in the Rockybay Foley @ Stud 525. The 4-6 favourite rode a bump at the opening corner but the professional veteran performer showed his class down the back. In front hitting the third corner, he kicked clear to beat Razldazl Monarch, by two and a half lengths, in 28.50.

The hat-trick was completed when Sweep The Yard ran out a comprehensive winner for owners the Broken Bookies Syndicate. A strong runner over further distances, leading early allowed him to cruise round in facile fashion. Showing huge all-round pace, the impressive winner crossed the line some seven and a half lengths clear of Tilly Blue, in the fton, a very fast 28.22.

We’d like to take a moment to wish all our owners, followers and supporters a happy new year and the best of luck with all your runners in 2020!
