Rural Hawaii followed up his opening round win with another emphatic victory in his second round heat last night at Limerick. Showing good early pace he was soon in command and skipping round the opening turns he was soon in full flight. Galloping relentlessly he crossed the line a comfortable two and half lengths in front in a very good 28.48.
Ballydoyle Honey ran a huge race to qualify in third spot after staring elimination in the eyes during Heat 2. Finding huge trouble at the opening turn, almost losing her feet, she was still last at the final turn. Running a clever race to hold her rail position around the 3rd she powered up the inside before switching to the middle off the final turn. Now in full flight she powered home to take 3rd spot. In the same heat, Riverside Gold, had been competitive early but faded out from the third turn.
Heat 5 saw Cabra Mufasa dig deep to qualify in third spot. Squeezed on the run up he moved across to the rails pitch where he managed to run on for the final qualifying spot. Warrior Gwen could never get into contention and found trouble on the run in.
Our final runner of the night, Rackethall Royal, also qualified for next week’s Third Round. Slowly into stride he found his way round the outside before running on strong to take third spot.
