Monday evening saw the Final of the Rural Hawaii @ Stud Open Unraced Stake Final at Clonmel where we had two Finalists taking their places. As well as the big Final there were a number of top class stake Finals on show.
Rising Vicki was the first of our runners when she lined up in the Greyhound Store A3/A4 Guys & Dolls Stake Final looking to follow up last week’s fine victory. Facing trouble direct from the boxes she never gave up where she eventually finished fifth. Newinn Lester took his place in the The Hotel Minella Open 525 where a tardy start put him on the back foot immediately. Moving well along the far side he moved into second spot but couldn’t land a blow round the final turns before finishing third. Fantasty Ben was up next as he took his place in The Sporting Press A1 / A2 550 Stake Final. He was short or luck at the opening turn where he was involved in heavy crowding but before running on to take third spot. Nice Charmer then lined up in The Friends Of Clonmel Track Lotto Open Sprint, missing the break in this high quality affair put paid to his chances early on. He too ran on for third spot overall.
Our luck was due a change and it came when Ballydoyle Grace led home kennel mate Good Legacy in the Suirview Kennels A0 / A1 Bitch Stake Final. Leading on the rails early Grace extended her lead along the far side and turning for home, Good Legacy never gave up and cut the advantage to half a length at the finishing line.
The feature race of the night was the Rural Hawaii @ Stud Open Unraced Stake Final where we had both Rockburst Dutch and Riverside Leo looking to land the big one. It was Rockburst Dutch who did everything right on the night but just got pipped on the line by a neck. Battling hard throughout he never gave up and put in a valiant effort looking for the victory. Riverside Leo encountered traffic problems at the opening turn and finished sixth.
Rural Aloha was our final runner of the evening when she contested The Clonmel Park Hotel Open 550. It was another messy affair where she was involved in the brunt of the trouble before eventually finishing fifth.
