Clonbrien Hero was crowned a worthy winner of the B.I.F Produce Stakes on Sunday evening at Clonmel

Breaking well, alongside kennel mate Lughill Robbie, they went to the bend neck and neck but it was Hero who had the inside line into the opening turn. Asserting round the bends Hero opened up a two length lead and stretched it further approaching the final turns. Extending his lead further up the home straight he came home six lengths in front, stopping the clock in a brilliant 28.12. Kennel mate, Lughill Robbie was a gallant 2nd, completing a memorable 1-2 for the kennels. The win saw him complete a great run through the competition where he was a winner of 4 of the 5 rounds.

A model of consistency throughout the competition, he was a winner of the First Round in 28.43, he then clocked 28.44 winning the Second Round, before posting 28.55 in the Quarter Finals. The Semi Final saw him run a big race to claim 2nd but still clocked 28.58 before running out a brilliant winner of the Final in 28.12.

He secured the title for the second year on the bounce for the kennels, following up Clares Rocket success in 2016.
