Clonbrien Hero claimed his second major honour of the year, following up his BIF Produce Stakes victory, running home a clear winner of the Irish Independant Laurels at Curraheen Park.

Making a better start than previous rounds he found himself facing crowding on the run to the bend, showing his brilliant track craft he managed to find a gap to edge across to the rails. At the opening turn he was fearless and shot up the inside of the early pace maker, moving well along the far side he began to assert his authority on the race and entering the third turn it was his to lose. Running home strong, he held off Away Jet comfortably, stopping the clock in a sensational, and competition best, of 28.00.
Owned by Kay Murphy. the son of Razldazl Jayfkay and Trout Or Salmon will now have a small break before being aimed at the upcoming Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby.
