Saturday saw the gala evening of racing at Shelbourne Park with the final of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby. Although no runners for us in the big race itself this year we were represented on the high quality supporting card.

We didn’t have to wait long for our first winner, Sidarian Blaze winning the 3rd race. Slowly into stride it looked a difficult proposition to win. Running a good first bend to come out the turn 2nd he went through the gears along the back straight where he grabbed the lead at the 3rd turn. He never looked back and went on to score by a length. A great run for his first competitive run back.

This kick started a quick fire hat trick for the kennels. Next up Coolavanny Pandy obliged running another brilliant race when it looked mission impossible at the opening turn. Breaking slowly, and in behind he early leaders on the run up she tucked in behind round the first bend and waited for an opening out the 2nd. Here she showed phenomenal back straight pace to take up the running at half way where she powered home to a 2 length victory.

Next up, the ever consistent Sidarian Lisa followed up a great win last week with an even more impressive victory in with top class opposition. Breaking well she showed great early dash to make the bend in front and soon opened up a commanding lead. She cruised round and never looked like getting caught on her way to a 6 length victory. Impressive on the eye and on the clock making it a double for the Sidarian Syndicate on the night.

Finally, General Wolf completed the 4 timer on the evening with another commanding performance. Showing good early pace he led round the opening turn and never looked troubled as he comfortably scored a 2.5 lengths winning margin.
