2015 has started as busy as 2014 ended with plenty of runners at Clonmel over the last couple nights ahead of their Festival of Racing at the end of the month. The youngsters and novices have taken center stage and there’s a few to keep a close eye on.
Thursday saw us with 3 entries in the Red Mills Unraced Stake; one of the best in the country for unearthing top dogs for the year ahead.
Riverside Gold was our only winner on the night when taking his heat. After a slow start he paced up well to move into a prominent position at the first turn. Tracking cleverly, keeping a middle to wide course, he showed scintillating back straight pace to take control of the race. He stayed on well to record victory by three and half lengths.
Ballydoyle Honey showed great all round pace to qualify in second place in her heat. After a very sluggish start. Moving across to the rails at the first turn she had to switch to the outside to get round the 5 dog. Showing good back straight pace she ran on to take second spot and qualify for the next round.
